Happy Birthday Michelle!

Sydney and I had a great day together today.  This morning we went to music class and then headed home to meet up with Eryn who will be working as our new Mother's Helper.  Sydney is very much a Mommy's girl, doesn't take quickly to other people, so I wasn't expecting to accomplish a whole lot today while Eryn was here.  I was pleasantly surprised when, ten minutes after Eryn had arrived, she and Syd were happily playing along side each other in the kitchen while I was whipping up a batch of mini pumpkin muffins.

This afternoon we headed over to our friend Michelle and William's house for an afternoon play date and to celebrate Michelle's birthday with her and our friends Lori and Weston and Erin and Beatrice.  Michelle put out the most amazing spread for us, lovely cheeses and dips and fruit and chips and served a yummy Okanagan wine that they discovered while on holidays there this summer.

Lori ordered a cake from Butter bakery for Michelle and we sang happy birthday to her and indulged in the decadent chocolate cake together.  It was so delicious!

Lori also made the most amazing sugar cookies with the words Happy Birthday imprinted in them for us to share.  They were so cool!  She used her Message-in-a-Cookie-Cutter from Williams Sonoma to imprint the message, I may just have to get myself one of these, so cool!!

Michelle is such a wonderful, sweet lady.  She is always thinking of others and is such a loving Mom to her sweet William.  We are so grateful to have gotten to know her and to have her as our neighbor here in Dunbar!

I found it fitting that Sydney chose to open the birthday present from Michelle and William this morning.  We have been doing a music class together with William this term and they spoiled us with a whole bag full of great musical instruments!  This percussion set made by Plan Toys is amazing, it has a guiro, maracas, tambourine and a castanet.  All of the instruments balance on a wooden holder, Sydney loves taking the drums off and lining them back on the holder.

We also got a new tambourine, harmonica and some ladybug clackers!  Love how Michelle worked the birthday theme into her gift!  She even found the cutest ladybug card for Syd!

We also opened a gift from Sydney's little buddy Declan who shares the exact same birthdate as Syd.  Declan gave Sydney this very sweet sign for her bedroom.  Earlier this year we had Sydney's room redecorated and the walls are a shade of light blue, this sign looks as though it was custom made for her room!  We love it!  I am going to put it on top of Sydney's book shelf, I think it will be quite fitting there!

Declan also gave us a bottle of Fruits and Passion body wash and some yummy chocolate animal cookies which Sydney devoured quite readily!

I am loving that we have extended the birthday bliss into an entire week of joy!  Sydney is having a blast opening presents every day, it's been great fun!
