A Mellow Day

Sydney and I had a very quiet day today for the first time in what felt like weeks!  It was so nice to have a day where we really didn't have anywhere to be and could just go at our own pace after a busy few weeks with birthday festivities!

We spent the better part of our morning doing some painting, made some handmade cards that we are going to send out as thank yous for all of the amazing birthday gifts that Syd got.  Here are a few of today's masterpieces, I think she's going through a pink phase right now:

When we came home from Syd's party yesterday with a giant pile of presents, I had this great idea that we would open one a day from now until they were gone so that she could spend an entire day enjoying each present before opening the next.  That worked out great until this afternoon when she was roaming around the house and discovered the stash of gifts.  She literally had opened half of them before I knew what was happening, it was too funny!  She was having the time of her life, it was hard not to just let her keep going and open them all but managed to convince her to save a few for the next few days so that we have something to look forward to!

I love that so many people got us gifts in keeping with our ladybug theme.  This morning she chose this present which was wrapped in ladybug paper from her little friend Myrtle:

It was a Manhattan Toys Lola Ladybug beanbag doll which came with it's own snuggly sleeping bag to carry her in!  So cute!  Sydney loved it, at one point during lunch she had her propped up at the table beside her bowl, it was very sweet!

Her friend Beau got her this awesome Sheep Push Along Toy made by Orange Tree Toys which came all the way from the UK!  Sydney loved this toy, pushed it around forever today when she unpacked it.  We literally had to pry it out of her hands when it was time for bed.  I am so excited to have one of these as she loves playing with the one that Beau has at his house so I know that she is going to get tons of use out of it!!

Sydney's bestie Emma got her a great gift made by Little Bird from our favourite kid's store Pebble; this very cute little handmade purse and a crayon roll which is a handmade cloth with little pockets for crayons that you can roll up and take anywhere with you!  Will be so great to take on the plane with us when we go on holidays later this year! Emma made Sydney the most beautiful handmade card too, check out this beauty:

Uncle Paul spoiled Sydney with a bag full of great gifts, some new art supplies, a velvety book to colour, canvas paint set, mini xylophone, hair clips, a matching memory game, floor puzzle and a ladybug art smock to go with it all!  So awesome!

We are looking forward to unpacking a few more gifts tomorrow, I am truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our amazing friends and family towards Sydney for her birthday, we are so blessed!
