Homework

Today had a very nice pace to it.  Busy, without being crazy, productive with still enough time to stop and enjoy the day!

My friend Mandy came over for lunch today.  She loves kids and always has such fun playing and interacting with Sydney.  She is very sweet and always brings a little something for Syd. Today she brought three colouring books with some jumbo crayons.  A perfect gift!  Sydney is passionate about anything that can fit into her art basket and was only too happy to get this gift today!

We recently received Sydney's very first homework assignment from preschool.  This month their theme is "All About Me", so each child (okay, Mom!) has been charged with the task of creating a collage that captures the magic and uniqueness of themselves at two years old.  We were told to get creative and use household items, magazine clippings, food labels, photos etc.

I spent the afternoon creating Sydney's collage while she happily played in her playroom with my Mother's Helper, Nadine.  I love how the collage turned out and really enjoyed the process of putting it together.  Not only did I manage to capture some of my favourite photos of her and us together, but also put some very fun things on it that she loves right now: a popsicle stick (loves popsicles anytime of the day!), a quarter (adores money...), ladybug stickers, a picture of cupcakes and some of her own handmade paintings.  It is fantastic and I am going to mount it on a piece of canvas and hang it in her room when we get it back home from school!

Sydney made a very neat craft this week at school as well for Tu Bishvat, this beautiful floral centerpiece for the table.  It proudly sits in the middle of our dining room table!

We also got to take home this kit for growing our own parsley from school this week in honour of Tu Bishvat.  I have the seeds soaking overnight tonight and tomorrow we are going to plant them.  The parsley should be ready to harvest come Passover if all goes according to plan!

It has been a very fun few weeks at school!  We had picture day this week as well, Sydney dressed up in her ladybug dress and wouldn't crack a smile for love or money for the photographer despite him making the funniest noises and faces that he could.  It will be cute to see how the pictures turn out in the end, I have the feeling that no matter what they look like, I'll be buying some, just because they are her first school pictures ever!!

Looking forward to many more fun days at school ahead!
