A Day Out with Thomas

What a sensational weekend we had with Sydney!  We woke up early Saturday morning and drove to Squamish for a very special event, A Day Out with Thomas.  This annual event takes place once a year at the historic West Coast Railway Heritage Park.  The entire park is decked out with everything Thomas for the day, it's fantastic!

Sydney seemed so happy to be there with both Mom and Dad. I often do activities like this with her on my own, during the work week while Paul is at the office, so it was very special to have Daddy there to take in the day with us!  There was face painting, storytelling, pictures with Sir Topham Hat, mini train rides, and of course, a train ride on Thomas the tank engine!

It was Sydney's first time on a train.  She loved the conductors and the fact that she could sit in the big seat all by herself and that the windows were low and big enough for her to take the entire view in!  The train ride was so fun, people kept coming by handing out balloons, colouring pages and stickers to the kids and they piped the Thomas theme song throughout the train.

Syd was especially thrilled to see the Thomas engine!  It was so cute to see her face when she saw him pulling the train along!

We left with all of our goodies that we got on the train, along with some Thomas Megablocks and a story book as a lovely parting gift and a Thomas whistle which I just couldn't resist buying her from the roundhouse which was decked out to the gills with everything Thomas you could imagine to buy!

After all of the excitement of Thomas we headed up to Whistler to spend the night at the Pan Pacific Village Suites.  What a lovely time we had together as a family relaxing, enjoying the mountain air and playing with Syd.  She was quite excited to be staying at a hotel, it was quite cute to see how into it she was!  She really is getting older and so much more aware of what's going on around her!

She took two long bubble baths in the tub at the hotel in lieu of going in the outdoor swimming pool as the weather was a little too cool for a dip outdoors!  We told her she could swim in the tub and she seemed quite happy with that!

The hotel was overlooking the local fire station, Sydney was thrilled!  She spent a good, long time watching the firemen wash and work on the engines.  Such great entertainment!!

It was such a fun weekend with Sydney together as a family.  We all came back feeling so rested and relaxed, it felt as if we'd been away forever!
