A New Cousin

Sydney and I headed to our second day of our Music with Marnie camp early this morning.  Last year, Syd was one of the youngest kids in the camp, this year, she is clearly the oldest.  It's funny to see all the little babies and think that that used to be her!  She really enjoyed herself this morning, did tons of actions and sang the songs to herself later throughout the day!

After music, we ran a few errands together and then decided to head to Kokopelli Cafe for lunch.  Just as we were getting settled, my friend Michelle and her son William walked in, and we ended up having an impromptu lunch and visit with them.  It was so nice to see them and catch up!  I love having chance meetings like that!

Sydney had her best ever potty training day today!  She went the entire day in panties without one accident!  I was so proud of her!  She really doesn't like using public toilets, so I usually carry her little potty around with us when we're out of the house, but today she actually used the real toilet twice at two different spots while we were out!  It was a huge victory for her!

Poor Paul has been sicker than a dog the past few days with an awful chest cold and bad cough.  We went to the drug store to pick him up some medicine today and I gave him a bowl full of my homemade chicken soup in hopes that it would make him feel better!

This afternoon I spent some time in the kitchen and made honey lime enchiladas and a batch of cookies.  It was nice to do a little cooking with the weather being a bit cooler today, I didn't mind having the oven on for a bit!

The most exciting news of the day is that Sydney's cousin Dana had her sweet baby boy yesterday!  Colton Lazer was born yesterday afternoon and he is the sweetest little pumpkin ever!  His middle name, Lazer, is a Yiddish name, after his great grandfather, Larry who is no longer with us.  We are so excited to meet him and celebrate at his bris next week!  Very fun for Syd to have a new cousin!

Sydney and I took a walk around the neighborhood this evening and ended up at the park so she could blow off some steam before bed.  She is very cute at the park these days, always taking a doll or stuffy with her and pushing them in the swings or down the slide on their own!  Today, she had her stuffed Cookie Monster and pushed him for the longest time on the swings, it was adorable!

We ran into a huge raccoon on the way home!  He quickly ran up a tree when he saw us, it was quite exciting for Syd.  He was huge and didn't seem as timid as I thought he should be when we happened upon him!

Syd happily played with a balloon in the stroller while we walked home, taking some time to enjoy some of the beautiful flowers in the neighborhood.  So lovely!

It was a great day together!  I am loving these lazy summer days where we are free to write our own book when it comes to our schedule!
