Backyard Lunch

It is really starting to feel like summer around here.  We have had several perfectly sunny, hot days in a row.  We are loving being able to leave the doors and windows open all day long, spending hours in our backyard playing, and running about in shorts and tank tops wherever we go!

This afternoon Sydney and I had our friends Mara and Alexa over for lunch in our back yard.  We met Alexa when she and Sydney signed up for an art class together early this year and have only had the chance to connect a couple of times since then, but we really enjoy their company!

Alexa brought Sydney a couple of treats today, a brand new bin of sidewalk chalk and some heart stickers.  The girls had such fun drawing all over the aggregate in the backyard this afternoon and sticking stickers everywhere!

Mara and I had a lovely visit together too.  I love making new friends and getting to know another family in the neighborhood!  It has been so nice to reconnect with a few friends that I haven't seen in a while lately!

After lunch, Sydney and I sauntered up to Dunbar for another art class.  We got to take home one of the projects she finished up during our last session, a clay bird:

She was very proud of it, proudly showing it to Daddy the minute we got home!

Sydney loves flowers so much, often points them out to me in people's gardens and asks me what the names of certain flowers are.  She loves to pick bouquets of wild flowers and put them in vases at home.  Tonight on the way home from art class, she stopped to pick a beautiful bouquet and then put them in a vase on the table in the backyard:

We stopped to get a basket of fresh, locally grown strawberries today too.  They are so delicious and so incredibly flavourful compared to the ones we've been eating grown afar.  What a perfect summer treat!

We didn't have the best potty-training day today, had two pee accidents outside while Syd was playing with Alexa and then she refused to put panties on, wanted a Pull-Up on for the rest of the day.  We will try, try again tomorrow on another perfectly sunny day!
