September Backyard Barbecue

It seems hard to believe that the first week of September is behind us!  It has been a busy week!  Our Saturday started off slowly, I tried to sleep in a bit after the very long day yesterday shopping in the states.  Syd was up early, of course, but managed to play quietly in the bedroom and sneak downstairs for a little breakfast with Daddy so that I could sleep for a much needed extra hour.

We met up with Zach this morning at the Wicked Cafe for coffee.  It was so nice to see him and catch up on what's been going on with him and hear about all of the interesting things he's been doing at work.  Sydney always loves the chance to see her big brother too!

After coffee Syd and I headed downtown to see Aimee for haircuts.  Sydney was such a good girl, sat nicely on my lap with a little cape around her and got herself a proper haircut so she's fresh and neat for school.  She looks so sweet with her little bangs framing her face and a little curly, red bob.  I managed to sneak in a haircut too so we both felt fresh and pretty leaving today!

I told Sydney that she could choose a treat to buy for being such a good girl at Aimee's today for her haircut, and she chose a popsicle.  So we stopped at 7-11 and got her a Life Saver popsicle, layers of multi-colours on a stick.  So fun and she had such a good time eating it and enjoying her reward for being such a good girl!

Late this afternoon we walked over to our friend Sally and Allan's house for a backyard barbecue.  It was such a gorgeous day today, it really felt like the middle of summer sitting in the backyard enjoying our burgers and basking in the sun.

The kids had a great time playing in Ollie's sandbox, digging and with the trucks and backhoes.

Someone brought Sally this most beautiful bouquet of flowers from their garden!  So lovely!

Sally and Allan are such great hosts, they had delicious food, are always great company and everyone was so happy and at ease.  It was fun to visit with a few of our Dunbar friends and to meet some new people too!

It was a fun way to end our day!  Late tonight after I had put Sydney to bed for the night I popped into her room and found this lying on her floor:

She had chosen her outfit for tomorrow and had it lying out and ready to go...my little fashionista!  Gotta love the jeans and skirt combo!

What a funny kid!
