Lunch with Auntie

Sydney and I started our new year off in fine form and had a lovely visit with my sister Liane and nephew Kenan today.  Sydney was so excited to be having people over today!  She was busily helping me set the table and get things prepared before they arrived.  I love how excited she is to be a hostess!

I made my good old standby Crustless Quiche for lunch and served it along with a fresh green salad.  It was so cheesy and delicious!  I've posted the recipe below, it's a great one if you're having compnay for brunch or to take to a potluck and can be assembled  the night before and kept in the fridge overnight to be ready to pop in the oven an hour before company arrives!

Crustless Quiche

10 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup melted butter
2 tins green chilis
1 lb grated Monterey Jack Cheese
2 cups low fat cottage cheese

Beat eggs until frothy.  Add flour, baking powder and salt.  Blend well.  Mix in butter, chilis and cheeses.  Pour into greased 9" x 13" glass dish.  Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.  Bring down to 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Liane brought me a gorgeous bouquet of bright and colourful Gerbera daisies.  I had been dying to get some fresh flowers for the house as it was looking so barren with all of the holiday decorations down, so I was only too thrilled to get these today!

Kenan gave Sydney a special treat too, a bag filled with all things Dora, colouring book, board book, ring and bracelets, stickers and the bag itself came with markers so that Sydney could colour it.  She had fun colouring with Auntie this afternoon and so enjoyed the visit with her family!

Sydney was excited to be able to finally give Auntie Liane the sea glass that we collected for her from Hawaii!

It was an absolutely amazing day today, the sun was shining and it was crisp and cool outside.  We decided to take full advantage of the weather and, after lunch, went for a walk up to Dunbar and ended up at Kokopelli for a coffee and snack for the kids and to the park so that Syd could have a little play time.  What a privilege to have a long, leisurely day together!

Sydney decided that she was in an artistic kind of mood this afternoon and made herself a beautiful collage with bits and pieces from my art supply bucket.

It was such a lovely, relaxing day today and so nice to spend some time with my family!
