Cat in the Hat

This afternoon Sydney and I headed down to the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island to watch The Cat in the Hat.  This play, based on the famous book by Dr. Seuss, was so well done.  It was bright and colourful, funny and age appropriate, Sydney loved it!  She sat mesmerized the entire time, it was fantastic!  I want to make a point of taking Sydney to more live theatre over the next while.  It was such a great way to spend an afternoon together and she clearly enjoyed herself.

As we were leaving, the actor who played the Cat in the Hat was sitting out in the lobby fielding questions from a group of kids who had gathered around him.  Syd thought it was pretty cool that she got to see him up close!

She left the theatre tightly clutching the book they had given us on the way in and proudly displaying the "I saw a play today" sticker that they handed out at the door.  Such fun!

I have been having a great time over the past few days just wandering around the house with my camera in my pocket snapping shots of Sydney mid-activity.  Here's a few of my favourite moments:

Dancing

My girl loves herself a good boogie, here she is literally dancing on her way down the stairs to school one morning!  Check out that bright spring outfit that she dressed herself in too, you could see her coming for a mile!

Salad Spinning

Syd's brother Zach came over for dinner last night.  Syd was thrilled to help me get the table set and prepare the meal.  She loves the salad spinner so much, she must have spun the lettuce dry for at least ten minutes!

Young and The Restless

I love this shot of Syd lying on her tummy watching the Young and The Restless with Daddy on a lazy Friday afternoon.

Whipped Cream

So I made this amazing Chocolate Coconut Cake for dessert last night when Zach came over.  The top layer was whipped cream and it turns out Sydney simply cannot get enough of it!  She licked the spatula and bowl clean once I had the cake together!

By the by, this dessert is so worth making again...recipe to follow in a future post.

Babies

Sydney's love for her baby dolls is never waning.  This morning she bundled her baby Emma up in her stroller, put on her purse and backpack and took her for a walk around the house in circles.

Last night for dinner she set a place for her baby at the table and put her in a tiny chair beside her own at the kitchen table.  So sweet!

Drying her Hair

Syd loves to dry her own hair with the hairdryer.  She always mimics what I do and dries her hair upside down to get some good volume!  With her amazing hair the end result often looks a little like an afro!

Seuss Time

On our way to see The Cat in the Hat today, Sydney insisted upon taking her book with her and reading it in the car.  It was so cute!

Art Time

Syd did a fabulous finger painting the other day and has been using up every inch of her chalkboard lately!

New Bowl

Still squeaking out a few dollars left over from Christmas.  Bought myself a fabulous new bowl the other day, I love it!

Blooming

Spring is definitely upon us, I noticed some of the flowers in our atrium starting to bloom over the past couple of days, love it!
