De Dutch

This morning Sydney woke up, got out of bed, went to the light switch, reached up and turned the light on all by herself.   She literally went to bed last night not being able to reach the light switch and woke up this morning tall enough to turn the lights on by herself.  She really is growing overnight these days!

This is our last week of school before a two week spring break.  For as much as we love school, I am looking forward to a change of pace and schedule for a short while.  It will be nice to get up in the morning and lounge around in our pajamas for a while without having to rush out and be somewhere.  We have booked tons of play dates and visits with people that we don't get to see very often, I am looking forward to reconnecting!

Next Monday is the start of Passover.  Sydney is so excited for the Seders, she's even asked me to get the dress, shoes and purse out that I bought last year for her to wear to dinner.  They are hanging in waiting, in anticipation for next week.

Sydney and I have been busy getting some little Easter treats together to deliver to her friends next week.

And this afternoon we whipped up a batch of mini banana muffins just for fun!

I love this time of year, so many great celebrations and reasons to get together.  Happy first day of spring!  In true Vancouver fashion we've had everything from pouring rain to sun beating down along with a huge hailstorm that sounded like it could blow the windows out on us in a twenty four hour period!

This morning Sydney's class went on a field trip to De Dutch Pancake house.  One of the girls in Sydney's class, her friend Addi and her family own the restaurant and invited the class to come today to have breakfast together and see how pancakes are made!

We rode the bus there and back, it was far and away the highlight of the day!

While we were waiting to catch the bus to go back to school the kids noticed a bus driving in the other direction covered in a Canucks advertisement.  Out of nowhere they all suddenly started chanting "Go Canucks Go!" for at least five minutes at the top of their lungs.  We were howling, it was so funny!

Sydney and her class so enjoyed having amazing huge Dutch pancakes this morning complete with chocolate sprinkles, whipped cream, strawberries and cinnamon apples for toppings to choose from!

They even got to go for a tour in the kitchen and see how they were made, it was fantastic!

What a fun outing together, so looking forward to more field trips between now and the end of the year!
