St. Patrick's Day

Sydney is obsessed with the calendar.  Almost every day she is flipping through the months asking me which is which and wanting to know whose birthday is when and what special occasions are coming up.

A few weeks back she saw that the calendar had 'St. Patrick's Day' marked on today's date.  We've never really made a big deal about St. Paddy's day in the past, so I took it as an opportunity to tell her all about it.  She does, after all, look completely Celtic and has some Irish blood in her.  It was only natural that she would be interested in today!

Syd was most interested in the fact that we were meant to wear green today, so yesterday she took it upon herself to ensure that all three of us were set and organized with our green clothing for today.  Midday, she asked Daddy if he had a green shirt to wear, Paul casually answered "I don't think so."  Sydney pops back "No seriously Dad, you do have one, remember you wore it when I was a baby?"

She was right, Paul did have one green t-shirt tucked away in the back of the closet and he cracked it out and wore it just for his girl today, it was very sweet.

I picked up some vintage green crepe banners from Urban Source the last time I was there so we decided to string them up in Sydney's room to celebrate the day.

Then we headed downstairs where we made shamrock pancakes out of pancake batter that was tinted green with food colouring.  It was pretty funny, Sydney loved it!

It was fun to establish some new traditions for a very fun holiday!  Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, hope the luck of the Irish follows you throughout the year!
