Thomas in Squamish

This morning Syd and I woke up bright and early and piled ourselves into Christina and Jack's car to drive up to Squamish for their annual Day out with Thomas.

The kids were so excited to see Thomas again this year.  Both of them remembered parts of the event from last year so it was fun to hear them talk about what they recalled and to see the look of delight on their faces when they saw things that they didn't!

We took a ride on the big train and the kids enjoyed having a snack, listening to the funny guy playing the ukelele, having their tickets stamped and checking out the sites through the window.

Then we headed over to the face painting station where both kids opted to have their hands painted instead so they could admire the freshly painted artwork!

Sydney got a Thomas train, of course, on her hand:

And Jack decided he was going to go with the less traditional shark:

Then we had the chance to write a letter to our favourite Thomas character and mail it in the special mail car.  Sydney wrote hers to Rosie and then proceeded to write both her first and last name and Rosie's name on the letter without any help from me!  Amazing!

We then took a very fun ride on a mini train which took us all around the Westcoast Heritage Railway Park, it was very fun and the kids loved it, especially when we stopped by the mini village complete with it's own train set with both Thomas and Percy!

We headed over to imagination station where the kids enjoyed playing at the craft tables and jumping in the bouncy castle and visiting with Sir Topham Hatt before playing with the train sets that were set up for their enjoyment.

We made one last stop at the gift station before we left where Sydney chose a special souvenir, her very own t-shirt to colour!  I think she did a pretty outstanding job!

We took the kids to Whitespot for lunch before they crashed in the car for a couple of hours while we drove back to North Van to the salmon hatchery to check it out.

Then off to Ambleside park so the kids could have a little bike ride.

What a fun day it was!  We were exhausted from all the activity by the time we made it home but so enjoyed spending the day with two of our favourite people and seeing Thomas once again!
