Apple Pie Playdough

Being in the thick of fall in Vancouver I am on the hunt for all things autumn to celebrate the season.  I found a recipe online the other day for apple pie playdough, a cooked playdough recipe that had all of the wonderful, aromatic spices found in apple pie and tinted bright red like an apple and I knew that Sydney and I had to try our hand at making it!

Syd loves being in the kitchen making things so much.  She loved being able to mix the ingredients into a big pot.

And then add the spices!

Check out the final result.  It smelled good enough to eat!

Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try:

Apple Pie Playdough

1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1/2 TBSP vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
red food colouring

In a large pot, combine dry ingredients and mix well.
Add in vegetable oil, food colouring and water and stir.
Cook over medium heat until the dough pulls away from the pot and starts to become dry.
Remove from heat, let cool and knead.
