Swap Meet Season

I awoke early Saturday morning with a mission in mind, to hit up my first swap meet of the season.  Since having Sydney I have so enjoyed hitting up the Kid's Only Swap Meets in the city to find amazing kid's stuff for a fraction of the price!

I bundled Syd up and took her with me, she loves to shop and is only too happy to look through a room stuffed with toys and books and fun things that she can bring home!

We were specifically on the hunt for a big bucket of Lego.  Sydney and her buddies are so into building with Lego right now and I would love to find a big bucket to stock our playroom for hours of building fun!

No such luck finding Lego but we did come away with some fun things!

Disney Princess Puzzle, combines two of Sydney's great loves right now!

Sydney absolutely loves playing board games right now, I am always on the hunt for new ones and was so pleased to find two great ones, we've already played both and they were a big hit!

Some cute fairy play figures

I am most excited to have found a near new DVD player for our car that straps to the headrest in front of Sydney so she can watch movies while we are on longer drives!

Scored some great WOW toys to add to our collection just yet, these will be much loved and played with I'm sure!

Got a kit of K'nex too, Sydney's first ever, am curious to see if she loves it as much as Lego!

We decided since we were on a roll with the swap meet that we'd swing by an estate sale that was happening in our neighborhood to see what we could find.

What fun we had looking through the beautiful dishes and silver and teacups, all things long loved by an elderly lady who had recently passed away.  Her children were hosting the sale and were charged with the difficult task of selling all of her beloved things.

Sydney and I picked up a few beautiful table linens that we are hoping we can use for tea parties in the future.

I couldn't resist getting these wee crystal glasses for the girls to use for tea too!  We told the daughter of the lady who had passed away that we would think of them every time we used these beloved items at our tea parties!

After a morning of shopping Syd and I enjoyed a few quiet moments at Starbucks before heading to my piano lesson.  I love how Syd snuggles up to me at the piano bench while I'm there and asks if she can have a turn to play.  I keep asking her if she wants to start taking lessons again but she assures me that she'd rather just come along with me to my lessons!

Saturday afternoon we had the pleasure of celebrating Alexa's 5th birthday with her at a fabulous birthday party at her home.

It was a Lego themed party, wow did her Mom do an amazing job of carrying the theme!  Everything was decorated in primary colours!

She even had Lego sunk in the fish tank and floating in the soap dispenser in the bathroom!

Love this creative cutlery holder that she made as well!

For the third year in a row Alexa had Cinema Zoo come out to her party along with their host of exotic animals for the children to see.

Syd especially loved the turtle, although she refused to touch any of the animals!

We had such fun celebrating with Alexa and getting to know a few new families from the neighborhood.

We ended our very busy Saturday with dinner at the Whitespot with Daddy.  Poor Syd was almost falling asleep at the table, we'd had a busy day!

We hit up a second swap meet this morning at the Coal Harbour Community Centre and came away with some more very fun things.

Syd absolutely loved this dancing ribbon!

And an assortment of princess costumes for her tickle trunk

Some new DVDs to go along with the player for the car

And always some books...especially love the ones on manners, a theme that we're working on a lot these days!

After all that fun we all snuggled up on the couch and watched the Heritage Classic hockey game where the Canucks took on the Ottawa Senators.   Even though the Canucks lost we enjoyed the game and continued on with an evening of watching the Oscars afterwards.  A nice chill end to a very busy weekend!
